At Crawford Family Chiropractic we offer a variety of therapeutic modalities used to help customize your care plan intended to maximize the benefits you receive from your care.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation: This is a great modality used to help reduce pain and muscle spasms. This therapy involves a small electric current via electrodes placed superficially on the surface of the skin that sends the current into the muscle. This is going to cause a decrease in muscle spasms, reduce the amount of inflammation and improve blood flow in the area which is going to result in relaxation and a decrease in pain. By decreasing the spasticity of the muscle, it is going to allow for a smoother adjustment by the doctor.
Intersegmental Traction Table: Traction is another multi-purpose modality that is utilized in all our clinics. Traction is created by a wheel that gently rolls inside of the table that transitions along the spine resulting in the spacing out of the discs decreasing the pressure on the nerve roots. It also reduces muscle tension in the spine that can increase spinal mobility leading to a longer holding adjustment.
Therapeutic Ultrasound: Ultrasound is a therapy designed to break up scar tissue formation, increase blood flow and promotes healing. This is done by sending high frequency sound waves into the tissue or joint causing it to heat up to receive the therapeutic benefit. Ultrasound is great for helping relieve acute and chronic issues such as tendonitis or arthritis.
